Alright, so we’ve already discussed the winners…now it’s time to rehash the most memorable moments of the Globes, both good and bad. I’m going to try to stick to my top ten (this may turn into more than ten…I just really liked them, ok?!) Before I dive in…let’s talk about Mr. Gervais for a moment. I like Ricky, I mean he invented one of my favorite shows on the planet (The Office, for those of you who live under a rock). I thought he was funny last year, yes, he went a little too far, but I enjoyed it. But this year he was much more subdued and I wish he had been a little meaner, to be honest. I mean look at this ad…
He didn’t quite live up to the devilish expecations set forth by NBC but he did have a few good digs here and there (i.e. the Kim Kardashian vs. Kate Middleton joke and the Jodie Foster joke–her reaction BTW=priceless) but I just wish he had been a little bit more like last year. Hollywood may be happy that he toned it down, but I assure you that I am not. (P.s. I had a realization during the show that ROBERT DOWNEY JR. should host next year. He would be fantastic. Someone should arrange for that. Sincerely, Jenny).
Another quick thing I want to discuss before I get into the top ten are the people who were there that shouldn’t have been…let’s discuss.
The most glaringly obvious example is Mary Camden Jessica Biel. WHY WAS SHE THERE? AND WHY WAS SHE WEARING THIS? It kind of looks like she has a third boob here…
Also, Elle Macpherson. We get it NBC, you are plugging your new fashion show. But seriously…also, I hated her dress and I usually love Zac Posen…
p.s. did anyone see Ashton shaving on camera during the carpet? NO ONE CARES.
And last but certainly not least, Channing Tatum. Why are you at the Golden Globes? Who invited you? You were in SHE’S THE MAN. That doesn’t make you Globe worthy. Is it because your wife was on that horrible show that was cancelled on NBC? Even if that new movie with Rachel McAdams does look good…you still are random.
OK, LET’S DO THIS! MY TOP TEN MOMENTS OF THE GOLDEN GLOBES:
10. Any time JGL was on camera.
Have I mentioned my love for Joseph Gordon Levitt? I think I have. ANYWAY I loved that he was at the Globes and I loved every single time he was shown. He is to die for.
9. The Laura Battle
This wasn’t actually on the globes, but I’m counting it. Rider Strong (yes, of Boy Meets World fame. Which may or may not be my favorite show ever…) tweeted PURE GOLD during the Golden Globes. He said that he is finally acknowledging that Laura Linney & Laura Dern are indeed, NOT the same person after they were both nominated for Best Actress in a TV Comedy or Musical. I DIED. It’s so true. THEY ARE THE SAME…but not.
8. Seth Rogen presenting with Kate Beckinsale.
He mentioned trying to hide his erection, and talked about the “hilarious comedy” My Week With Marilyn. Kate was dying. And I loved it. It was, in my opinion, the funniest part of the show. Maybe Seth Rogen should host next year…?
7. Felicity Huffman & William H. Macy
What a cute hubby and wife they are. They prepared a little diddy, and I really enjoyed it. Super cute and funny. LOVE them.
6. Sarah Michelle Gellar & Piper Perabo presenting together.
Ok, let’s get this straight. I am not including this because of how much I like them…even though SMG’s interview on the red carpet was adorbs. The fact that they both wore these (in my opinion) hideous and HUGE dresses and presented together was hilarious.
Look how far apart they have to stand….HAH. I was laughing through this entire award, don’t even remember what the award was for.
5. Modern Family winning Best TV Comedy (and various other MF moments)
I just, love them. I’m so happy they won!
Sarah Hyland’s dress broke on the red carpet and E! captured it on camera, she was a good sport and that’s why I love her.
Billy Bush’s interview on the red carpet with Sofia Vegara and Julie Bowen was CLASSIC. If you haven’t seen this clip, you must. Unless you are like Elle and hate Sofia Vergara (this is something we will not address as it will be a strain on our friendship.)
He compliments Julie on her boobs looking big…it’s hilarious. This is just a perfect display of why I love them so much.
4. Morgan Freeman winning the Cecil B. Demille award.
He’s amazing. The presenters were amazing. I mean, Sidney Poitier and Helen Mirren?!?!
I already expressed my love for Morgan in my People’s Choice Awards post…but I’ll do it again. I mean look at him in these shades. He is the MAN.
3. Meryl Streep cussing on National Television
If you had told me that the person getting the most obvious bleep of the night was going to be Meryl Streep, I would have laughed at you. It was EPIC. Who knew she had such a potty mouth? Oh, Meryl. Also, I loved that she told Viola how much she loved her, such a love fest.
2. Michelle Williams winning for My Week With Marilyn
This is pretty obvious. I love her. I loved her speech. She is amazing. I wish we were best friends. End of story.
1. The Clooney & Pitt bromance on display
There were so many moments that we were able to enjoy Brad and George’s bromance during the Golden Globes (and we already got a healthy dose of their love during the People’s Choice Awards). They introduced each other’s movies and Brad was the first person that George thanked in his speech. But my personal favorite moment of the night was when George walked out on stage (to introduce Moneyball) with Brad’s cane…
He scratched his back with it a little bit and then cracked, “I have to give it back to him. He can’t make it to the bar otherwise.” Great television right here.
The Brangelina reaction. How adorable. It’s love (between G & B, that is. I mean, I think Angie and Brad love each other too but I’m more concerned with the former).
So there it is everyone. The most memorable parts of the Globes! Next up: the fashions of the globes. And then I promise I will stop. I have to start preparing for the SAG awards after all…
xx
